For many women, the Hijab is not compatible with sports, let alone with ballet dancing! Engy El Shazly is proving us wrong. At 27 years old she decided to accomplish her childhood dream: Becoming a ballerina.
She is teaching us that nothing can hold you back from accomplishing your dream. You’re never too old, it’s never too late. Your hijab is not a barrier. Your difference is your power.

Someone that inspires you and why?
Misty Copeland; because she started ballet late and got rejected from many ballet companies and now she is the principal of the American theater.
What is the greatest accomplishment of your life?
To be a ballerina and assistant ballet teacher.
What would constitute a “perfect” day for you?
The day I meet the love of my life.
For what in your life do you feel most grateful?
I’m grateful for my good health, family, and that some people said I inspire them.
Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?
Misty Copeland or Cristiano Ronaldo.
If you could change anything about the way you were raised, what would it be?
I won’t change it because I like the way my family raised me.
If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?
Ability to do some hard techniques in ballet. Such as doing at least 10 pirouettes on pointe.

A small thing everybody can do every day to brighten the world or themselves?
To do what they love for at least an hour per day.
